Maintenance plan and warranty.

Service Plan, Maintenance plan and warranty. What exactly is the difference? Warranty Let us starts with a warranty, all new cars sold come with a factory warranty.  The warranty is in place because no car manufacture can guarantee that there will not be any problems on a car when it is sold or during the use of the car. The car manufacture does however promise to fix it when it brakes. But what is covered? Warranty covers the cost of components/ parts that have been inferiorly manufactured or incorrectly fitted by the manufacture causing failure. Any outside forces cause by the customer or nature is not covered by warranty.   The Service/ Maintenance booklet will explain what is and is not covered and under what circumstance the warranty will be valid or void. This is your responsibility to know. Brakes, wiper blades and lights are not covered by warranty because they are considered a wear and tear item.  Also not covered by warranty is customer negligent or usage outside of the intended manufacture of the car is not covered. To other words you cannot take a delivery truck and go racing with it or use a passenger sedan as a 4×4. Service plan A service plan covers the cost of the service as per the service intervals stipulated by the manufacture.  This is pre calculated and is link to either an annual basis or a kilometer turnover. For Example, if an air filter on your car/bakkie need to be replaced on service and it does not form part of the schedule dictated by the manufacture, that air filter will not be covered by the service plan or maintenance plan. Brakes, Wiper blades and V-belts are not covered by the service pan. Only service related items. Maintenance Plan This covers the cost of wear and tear items on the car that gets worn out over time due to use of the vehicle.  This will exclude warranty items and service items. It will cover the cost for brake replacement, wiper blades and other items that will get used due to driving. The policy may and probably will exclude abuse of brakes and repairs needing to be done due to accident or outside forces. Maintenance plan will not cover the cost of an air filter if it is dirty and needs to be replaced, because it is considered a service part.  It will also not cover the cost of the repair of rattles and adjustments. No of the above will cover the cost of accident repair of any outside force that has caused damage to a car, for example rats, water and /or dirty fuel. Extended Warranty Extended Warranty is a whole other ball game and requires some technical knowledge to ready through the jargon and understand what is explained in the coverage.  Extended warranty will not cover a bump to bumper cover that your factory warranty offers. (READ EXTENDED WARRANTY)

Be patient. In all fairness we are happy to wait long hours at the doctors but cannot be patient when handing over or receiving our cars vehicles. It is good to get the name of the person helping you with your car. Remember you are leaving your car with them and when you get asked who is your service advisor is, at least you will have an answer. Sometimes it happens that the person booking you in is not necessary the person that will be helping helping you. Find out who that will be and /or get a business card. Answer questions clear and thoroughly. Make sure your telephone number is correct. Give your email address. If your email address includes your name and surname, remember the person helping you might not be well versed in your name and surname. Don’t press for an ETA on the car. When you are at the hospital waiting for surgery you do not chase them on
